Against the collection

You can raise money against classic cars you already own, secured on a single car or across a collection, without selling anything.

FOR
Companies and certified owners
USED FOR
Raising capital on one car or several that you already own

How it works

The car stays with you in almost every case. The lender takes security over it and registers its interest.

How much you can raise depends on the valuation, the market for that model and how quickly it could be sold if it had to be.

Terms are usually shorter than a purchase agreement, and the exit matters as much as the car. Lenders want to know whether you will repay from income, from a sale, or by refinancing.

We arrange this for companies, and for individuals borrowing over £60,260 under the high net worth exemption.

What a lender looks at

  • 01Proof that you own the car outright, or the settlement figure on any existing agreement.
  • 02An independent valuation, and photographs of the car as it is today.
  • 03Where it is kept, and by whom.
  • 04A clear and evidenced exit.

Not for: Raising money against a car you use as everyday personal transport, where the borrowing would be regulated consumer credit.

Questions

Do I have to give up the car?

Usually no. Most lenders leave the car with you, subject to conditions about storage, use and insurance. Some will ask for storage at an approved facility on higher value cars.

Can I borrow against several cars at once?

Yes. A collection can be treated as one case, with the security spread across the cars and one facility drawn against them.

What if the car is still on finance?

We can look at refinancing the existing agreement and releasing the difference, subject to the settlement figure and the current valuation.

Finance on this page is arranged for limited companies and LLPs, for sole traders and partnerships borrowing over £25,000 wholly or predominantly for business purposes, and for individuals borrowing over £60,260 who have signed a high net worth statement. Send us the details either way: cases outside that are handled through one of our regulated partners, and we tell you who before anyone contacts you.
